Is BlackRain79 Legit?
Yes, BlackRain79, aka Nathan Williams, is legit.
Nathan is known to be the king of microstakes poker, offers great videos on YouTube and has a website that's been around for several years.
Recently he also launched his own poker training course called Elite Poker University, where he helps microstakes poker players improve their game and increase their win rate.
(And I'd say he does a pretty good job with it based on what students share in the private Facebook group.)
If you Google Nathan's graph and his winnings, you'll notice that he's made a profit of $3281 at 5NL games.
And let's be honest, making 12 BB/100 on 5NL is definitely crushing it.
The truth is:
Nathan Williams' approach (and recommendation for beginners/enthusiasts in low stakes) is to play against much worse players.
He won't teach you to play good GTO poker, but he will teach you how to play in a way that will net you a profit in the absolute easiest games out there.
Just because he doesn't focus on GTO poker, doesn't make him a scam.
Nathan Williams, aka BlackRain79, is a legit poker player and a coach. He simply has a different target audience and what he teaches makes sense.
He never tells you how to beat the professionals, but rather how to beat the "fish" or bad recreational players.
With this in mind, BlackRain79 gives sound advice to people that want to be successful at the lower levels of poker where the games are much faster and the patience game is not always possible.
He’s found success on the (virtual) felt, has shared a ton of value for free, and now he shares the premium level strategies with his students in the Elite Poker University course.

Is Elite Poker University Worth It?
I have a separate BlackRain79's Elite Poker University course review that I encourage you to check out, but in a nutshell, yes, this course is worth it.
I personally bought the course and gained a lot of value.
Despite me being a pretty experienced poker player, I started playing the game without having the basics/foundation and most certainly had some leaks, so Nathan's poker course helped me identify and fix those.
Without a doubt:
It is for the dedicated microstakes players who are looking to improve their game, see results, and increase their win rate significantly.
